PHOENIX — Phoenix police officers lined the streets to honor one of their own on Tuesday.
Commander Greg Carnicle was killed in the line of duty Sunday night. On Tuesday, a hearse carried his body in a procession from downtown Phoenix to a funeral home in north Phoenix.
Carnicle was killed just months away from his retirement from the force.

Two other officers were injured. However, they are expected to fully recover. One of them, Alicia Hubert, was released from the hospital on Tuesday.
Officer Marisssa Dowhan is still in the hospital but making progress in her recovery.
The Phoenix Police Department said Commander Greg Carnicle was shot and killed at the scene of the disturbance call between roommates near 40th Drive and Pinnacle Peak Road.
The two other roommates had called police because the suspect was acting strange and they wanted him removed, Sgt. Mercedes Fortune said in a video news conference.
Williams said the three officers were shot as they were walking up a stairwell.
The suspect was identified Monday as 22-year-old Jacob Emry Mcilveen.
Mcilveen barricaded himself in the home for several hours after the officers were extractedbefore he exited the home armed, police said. Officers fired and Mcilveen was pronounced dead on scene.
