A 16 year old student has been detained by police for allegedly making threats to students and teachers. Police say the teenager compiled a "hit list" with more than two dozen people on it. The boy is a student at Shadow Mountain High School in Phoenix.
Police spokesman Sgt. Trent Crump says the boy called it a "murder list".
Police said that weapons were mentioned in the threat, however, no weapons were found when the boy was detained on campus, "It includes graphic details about what his intent was to do to them," said Sgt. Trent Crump.
Police say they have not searched his house for weapons. Crump said police may not have to search the teen's home depending on how his parents cooperate.
Earlier, Phoenix police said the principal received a call Thursday morning before school started from a parent with knowledge of the threat against Shadow Mountain.
School administrators along with Phoenix police made contact with the student on campus before classes started.
School administrators say all students, faculty and staff are safe. In a letter sent to parents the principal made it clear that, "Alleged threats are not taken lightly and the student will be disciplined in accordance to the Parent Student Handbook."
One parent we spoke to feels the school did everything right but she still pulled her daughter from school, "They say they have it under control but i want to make sure she is safe, you never know," said Robyn Servantez.
The boy has not yet been charged but could be later today.
