PHOENIX — Phoenix is known for its sweltering summers, beautiful winters and great outdoor desert views, but it looks like the Valley may be getting recognized for something else.
The Valley is being noticed for its budding music scene thanks to an appearance in a popular publication.
Billboard recently released its list of the "2024 Top Music Venues" and a Valley hangout made the cut. According to Billboard, The Rebel Lounge is a must-visit.
Located near 24th Street and Indian School Road, the live-music venue was named Billboard's "Best Venue Under 500 Capacity."
"This desert oasis of brick, steel and rust has long served as an important tour stop for developing bands traveling Interstate 10," the article read.
Originally founded in 1979, what is now known as the Rebel Lounge began as The Mason Jar, one of the premier clubs in Phoenix. According to the lounge website, the club hosted several popular bands such as Rage Against the Machine, Tool, Jane’s Addiction, Green Day, Guns ‘N’ Roses, and Nirvana.
