Propane tank 'explosions' reported as Phoenix firefighters respond to house fire, officials say

The fire department said several residents and animals have been displaced due to the large house fire Tuesday morning.

PHOENIX — Phoenix firefighters have extinguished a destructive house fire that caused significant damage to a Laveen property near 68th Avenue and Broadway Road.

At about 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, firefighters were dispatched to a large amount of fire and smoke coming from a single-story residence. As crews began working to keep the fire from spreading, numerous propane tank explosions started occurring on the property, the fire department said.

The fire was eventually brought under control. No injuries were reported but several residents and animals will be displaced.

Firefighters will be spending several hours extinguishing hot spots throughout the property. It's not clear how the fire started.
