PHOENIX — A Phoenix firefighter is injured after a man allegedly assaulted the firefighter in central Phoenix, the city's police said. It is unclear why the firefighter was assaulted.
Phoenix police officers responded to the area of 19th Avenue and Camelback Road regarding an assault on a Phoenix firefighter. When officers got to the scene, they found the suspect nearby.
Police said the firefighter was at the scene for a medical call when the firefighter was assaulted by a man, later identified as 45-year-old Jonathan Macias. The firefighter has minor injuries as a result of the incident.
Macias was arrested and is facing an aggravated assault charge, police said.
Police did not say why Macias assaulted the firefighter or release the identity of the firefighter.
