Woman rescued from Phoenix canal

PHOENIX — First responders rescued a woman trapped in a Phoenix canal Saturday morning, according to authorities.

The Phoenix Fire Department said crews responded to the canal near 23rd Avenue and Indian School Road Saturday at around 9:15 a.m. after the woman became trapped.

"Crews were able to quickly extricate the patient," the department said.

Details about how the woman came to be in the canal were not released.

The department said the woman was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
