Every year Phoenix fire dispatchers answer over 1 million calls and now they will be able to do more with the newest addition to their team -- a new building.
The new building is about four times the size of the old one and will help dispatchers take on more calls to the 27 cities they serve.
"I like coming in and feeling like I can help somebody," said Yani Eder, a Phoenix fire dispatcher. "This place is a little more open then our other facility was. We can have more phones here. The equipment’s all the same but it just think the space is bigger and a lot newer."
The new building isn’t just spacious, it also features state-of-the-art equipment like bigger screens and standing desks to help dispatchers stay healthy while helping the community.
