PHOENIX — A man is dead and two others are injured after a crash involving a city bus in Phoenix, fire officials said.
According to authorities, officers were called to a city yard near 79th Avenue and Van Buren Street around 5 a.m.
Once on the scene, crews found George Meletis, 59, with injuries but he was later pronounced dead at the scene. Phoenix Fire said two other adults involved in the crash required extrication and were transported to the hospital.
Police said two individuals were traveling in a large van that allegedly ran over Meletis before hitting a city bus in the yard.
Phoenix police will be handling the investigation moving forward.
