Pedestrian seriously injured following hit-and-run crash in west Phoenix

The incident occurred early Saturday morning near 51st Avenue and Thomas Road, police say.

PHOENIX — A pedestrian was injured following a hit and run crash in west Phoenix, police said. 

Phoenix police officers responded to a call of a possible hit and run crash near 51st Avenue and Thomas Road involving a pedestrian just after 1:30 a.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found an injured man lying in the road. He was transported to the hospital with critical injuries, police said.

Detectives investigating the incident said early information indicates the man was crossing 51st Avenue mid-block when a vehicle going south on 51stAvenue struck him. The vehicle did not remain on scene, police said. 

Anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to call Silent Witness at 480(WITNESS) or 480(TESTIGO) to provide any anonymous tips.
