PHOENIX — A pedestrian is dead after a crash overnight in Phoenix on Interstate 10, Arizona DPS said.
The eastbound lanes of I-10 were closed after the fatal crash, as officials investigated. The incident reportedly occurred on I-10 eastbound near 27th Avenue. I-10 eastbound near the I-10/I-17 stack reopened around 6 a.m. Friday.
Authorities said they received reports of a man walking on the roadway around 3 a.m. As officials arrived on scene, they located the man and saw him struck by a vehicle passing by.
Officials at the scene said the male pedestrian injured in the crash was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, but he later died. The identity of the pedestrian has not yet been released.
The investigation is ongoing.
