Scottsdale police say a woman was arrested for DUI after her friend jumped from the red Ford Mustang she was driving and later died at a hospital.

According to police, 21-year-old Courtney Kiser and her friend, Summer Crosswhite, were drinking in downtown Scottsdale Thursday night. Kiser decided to drive home. Crosswhite was in the passenger seat.

Police say Kiser and Crosswhite got into a verbal argument while they were traveling westbound on Indian School Road near the intersection of 64th Street and Indian School.

Crosswhite, at some point, opened the passenger side door and jumped from the moving car, according to police.

Kiser stopped and remained at the scene. Police said officers arrived around 7:40 p.m. and found Crosswhite in the middle of the roadway. She was taken to a hospital where she later died.

Police said Kiser was later arrested for DUI.
