TEMPE, Ariz. — Tempe residents won't be ringing in 2019 with the city's annual New Year's Eve fireworks show.

The fireworks display has been canceled.

According to the Downtown Tempe Authority, the fireworks were canceled due to "unforeseen circumstances on the Hayden Butte" or as others may know it A Mountain.

A spokesperson for the organization said conditions on the A Mountain are drier than normal making it unsafe to launch fireworks.

But despite there not being a fireworks display when the clock strikes midnight, organizers say festivities will "continue as planned" at venues along Mill Avenue.
