Opening date for Glendale's Mattel Adventure Park pushed back to 2025

The amusement park in Glendale is expected to include a Hot Wheels-themed roller coaster and Barbie Beach House.

GLENDALE, Ariz. — A new amusement park inspired by Mattel's toy brands is not scheduled to open in the West Valley until next year.

Mattel Adventure Park was previously expected to open this year at the VAI Resort near Glendale's State Farm Stadium. But the opening date has now been push back to next year.

"VAI Resort has greatly expanded its initial vision for the Glendale property. These vast expansions impact hospitality, dining, and other entertainment offerings and remain under construction," a spokesperson for the developers wrote in a statement. "Mattel Adventure Park is a key anchor tenant of the resort. To ensure the best experience for our guests, Mattel Adventure Park will open in 2025 as part of VAI Resort’s phase one opening."

The amusement park is expected to include attractions like a Hot Wheels-themed roller coaster, Barbie Beach House and a Thomas the Tank Engine attraction.
