Phoenix police say officers were involved in a shooting while serving a search warrant related to a drug investigation Thursday morning.
The shooting happened near 23rd Avenue and Roeser Road in Phoenix. Police said a suspect in the home fired at least one shot through the door at officers. Some of the officers were hit by bullet shrapnel or pieces of wood from the door.
According to police, one of the officers fired once into the home to allow the other officers to take cover.
Eight suspects were detained. Police said no officers or suspects were hurt.
The shooting is the 44th officer-involved shooting in Maricopa County so far this year, surpassing the total for 2017.
It's the 26th officer-involved shooting for Phoenix PD.
