New electric semi-truck manufacturing plant in Buckeye will bring 2,000 jobs

Nikola Motor Company chose Buckeye over 30 other site locations in 9 different states because of the state's pro-business environment, engineering schools and educated workforce, the company said.

BUCKEYE, Ariz. - Arizona Governor Doug Ducey and Nikola Motor Company announced Tuesday the company has selected Buckeye for its Nikola Motor Company hydrogen-electric semi-truck manufacturing headquarters facility.

The new 500-acre facility will be located in the West Valley and will bring more than $1 billion in capital investment by 2024, according to a press release by Nikola Corporation.

The company chose Buckeye over 30 other site locations in nine different states because of the Arizona's pro-business environment, engineering schools and educated workforce, the press release read.

According to the press release, Nikola Motor Company designs and manufactures hydrogen-electric vehicles, electric vehicle drivetrains along with vehicle components, energy storage systems and hydrogen stations.

Construction on the plant at Sun Valley and the future Wintersburg parkways is expected to begin by the end of 2019.
