Seeing smoke? Mulch fire sends smoke into sky in Phoenix

Fire officials designated the blaze as a first-alarm fire due to the amount of product.

PHOENIX — Crews battled a mulch fire in Phoenix Saturday afternoon, officials said.

Around 2:15 p.m., firefighters arrived at the scene near Central and Southern avenues for reports of smoke in the area. Crews found a working mulch fire nearby.

Fire officials designated the blaze as a first-alarm fire due to the amount of product.

Officials said no structures were threatened by the fire and no injuries were reported.

The investigation into the fire is ongoing.
