21-year-old killed in Mesa crash on US 60

DPS said the crash happened on eastbound US-60 in the area of Val Vista Drive.

PHOENIX — A deadly crash involving multiple vehicles has killed a motorcyclist in Mesa, according to authorities.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) said the crash happened Wednesday afternoon at around 3:20 p.m. on eastbound US 60 near Val Vista Road. 

DPS said the motorcycle crashed into the rear end of another vehicle.

"The motorcyclist was ejected into the middle lanes of the highway and was run over by multiple vehicles, killing the motorcycle driver," DPS said.

DPS said they believe all the drivers involved in the crash remained at the scene.

The deceased person has been identified as Derrick Kleinschmidt, 21, of Mesa.
