Motorcyclist injured in north Phoenix crash

The crash occurred on Friday afternoon on State Route 51 near Union Hills, authorities say.

PHOENIX — A motorcyclist was injured in a crash with a car on State Route 51 near Phoenix Friday, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The crash occurred near Union Hills at 3:44 p.m. The motorcyclist appeared to not be wearing a helmet or it came off in the collision, ADOT said. The saddle bags from the motorcycle ended up in the southbound lanes of Interstate 17. 

The Phoenix Fire Department responded to the scene and treated the rider before the person was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.

The identity of the motorcyclist or the person driving the car was not released. ADOT also did not release the cause of the accident.
