Deadly motorcycle crash in Gilbert

Police said the crash happened at the intersection of Ray and Higley Roads.

GILBERT, Ariz. — A motorcyclist has died following a crash with another vehicle in Gilbert, according to authorities.

The Gilbert Police Department said the crash happened on Sunday at around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Ray and Higley roads.

Upon arrival at the crash, Gilbert Fire and Rescue tried to save the life of the motorcyclist, but he died at the scene, police said.

The individual's name has not been released.

GPD is investigating what led up to the crash.

The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash remained on scene, police said. Impairment does not appear to be a factor.

Southbound Higley Road is closed at Ray Road and northbound Higley Road is closed at Galveston Street. Police expect the area to remain closed until the investigation of the crash is complete.

Drivers should avoid the area and find alternate routes to their destinations.

This is a developing story and more details will be added as they are made available.
