The concert had been scheduled for Sunday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale.

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Metallica is postponing its concert in the Valley after the band's lead singer, James Hetfield, tested positive for COVID-19.

"Unfortunately, COVID has caught up with James," the band said on social media.

The concert had been scheduled for Sunday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale.

The band made the announcement in an Instagram post.

"We’re extremely disappointed and regret any inconvenience this has caused you," the post said in part.

The new date for the event will be Saturday, Sept. 9.
