MESA, Ariz. — A viewer might have glimpsed something out of this world over Mesa last weekend. His photos were abducting our attention on Facebook so we just had to give it a stellar shout-out.
Now we're not going to say 12News Weather Watcher Chad Chad photographed a UFO... Because he probably didn't. But some speculation in the comments section orbited around that possibility!
"The funny thing is a guy walked by my porch the other day and told me that they were coming this week," Chad joked.
Level-headed earthlings prevailed, and most people correctly guessed this was one of the many airplanes pulling advertising banners over the WM Phoenix Open.
A UFO over Mesa? It's less likely than you think.

As silly as this may seem, it's not an alien idea. Arizona is no stranger to close encounters of the third kind. In addition to the widely known Phoenix Lights seen over Arizona in 1997, the American Southwest is a hotspot for UFO sightings.
