MESA, Ariz. — The Mesa Police Department has created the ability for residents to anonymously report the illegal use of fireworks during the upcoming Fourth of July celebrations.
Between July 1 and July 6, a citizen who witnesses illegal fireworks activity can file an anonymous report on the City of Mesa website. A complaint can be filed by clicking on the "Residents" tab, then going to "Police" and then clicking on "Report Fireworks" where visitors can submit a request.
The requests will be sent to an inbox that will be monitored 24/7 by police personnel. Once a complaint has been verified through the police department's Real Time Crime Center's video surveillance, then police will dispatch officers to investigate the complaint.
The police department will have a dedicated group of officers assigned to fireworks-related calls on July 4.
The types of fireworks prohibited in Mesa include the following:
- Sky rockets or bottle rockets
- Firecrackers
- Re-loadable shell device like Roman candles
- Aerials
- Single-tube device
- Sky lanterns
