MESA, Ariz. — One person was hospitalized due to their burns after an apartment fire at a Mesa apartment complex, officials with the city fire department said.
Crews were called to the complex, just west of Main Street and Gilbert Road for reports of a fire on the first floor. There, they found two victims outside the complex, one with burns.
First responders stabilized the patient and rushed them to the hospital.
The second patient reported that they were suffering from smoke inhalation, but they were not taken to the hospital, department officials said.
"The fire was extinguished quickly and contained to one apartment unit. Crews continued to mop up the fire," the department told 12News.
No firemen were hurt during the incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
This is the second apartment fire in Mesa that led to someone being injured this week.
