MESA, Ariz. - Organizers gathered Thursday to protest the death of Daniel Shaver, who was killed by former Mesa police officer Philip Brailsford.
Brailsford, who was fired by the Mesa Police Department after the deadly shooting, was acquitted of second-degree murder a few weeks ago.
On Thursday — organizers, including Black Lives Matter, with the blessing of Shaver’s widow — held a vigil.
Several speeches were made, and organizers said it was time to let the City of Mesa know that they will not be silent.
