Mesa police urge people to stay inside as they search for suspect

Police say three people were inside a stolen vehicle. Two are in custody but a third is on the loose.

MESA, Ariz. — Police are urging people in the area of 64th Street and Brown Road in Mesa to stay indoors as they search for a suspect.

Mesa police said officers with the Phoenix Police Department found a stolen vehicle that officers were searching for after a reported aggravated assault with a gun. Three people were inside the stolen vehicle when officers found it. Two were taken into custody but a third remains on the loose. 

Mesa police are helping with the search for the suspect and have set up a large perimeter near 64th Street and Brown Road. 

Helicopters are being used to assist with the search.

Residents in the area are urged to call 911 if they see anything suspicious.
