Valley Metro bus crashes into home in Mesa

Officials with the Mesa Fire Department said four people were taken to local hospitals from the scene.

MESA, Ariz. — Eight people were injured when a city bus crashed into a home in Mesa Monday evening after getting into a collision with another vehicle near Broadway Road and Stapley Drive, officials with the Mesa Fire Department said.

Officials with the Mesa Police Department said five people were taken to local hospitals from the scene, three were on the bus and two were in the house. All are expected to be OK, officials said.

Three people were treated on scene and released.

Police said that a truck driving southbound on Broadway Road ran a stop sign and crashed into the bus, causing it to veer into the house. A man and a woman in the truck ran away before police arrived, and still haven't been found.

The home was heavily damaged in the crash, officials said.  Several cars in the driveway were also damaged.
