An elderly couple was found dead of a suspected murder-suicide in Sun City West on Thursday morning, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said.
The couple, who was later identified as 90-year-old Genevieve Artikuski and 89-year-old Mickie Artikuski, was found dead near 140th Avenue and Meeker Boulevard around 7 a.m. when deputies responded to a shooting call.
The sheriff's office later said that homicide detectives learned that the night before the shooting deaths, Genevieve was complaining to Mickie that she was "in severe pain and wanted to die."
On the day of the incident, Mickie returned to the care facility, shot his wife and then shot himself, according to the sheriff's office.
There are no outstanding suspects, the sheriff's office added.
