PHOENIX — Maryvale High School is back to normal operations Monday after being put on lockdown due to a police situation, Phoenix Union High School District officials said.
Around 7 a.m., Phoenix police received an emergency call about a threat to the school located near 59th Avenue and Indian School Road. Police investigated details of the threat as the school was on a temporary lockdown out of an abundance of caution.
Authorities said there weren't any confirmed valid threats that risked the safety of students or staff. As the incident continues to be investigated, officers will continue to work with district officials and will continue to have a presence at the school throughout the day.
District officials said the school was on a late start, so very few students were on campus. The school will operate on an "iDay" schedule and all after-school activities will take place as scheduled.
School officials said they will return to a normal Tuesday schedule tomorrow.
This is a developing story. We will update as more information becomes available.
