Maricopa County 'Diaper Bank' program extended through September

The County has already distributed over 400,000 diapers at no cost to families through the program.

PHOENIX — Good news for Valley families in need of a little help with baby supplies, the Maricopa County diaper bank program has been extended through September, 2024.

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors unanimously agreed to extend the program. So far, it's provided over 400,000 diapers at no cost to families in need.

"Diapers can range in cost from $0.30 to upwards of $0.75 each depending on the size and features," the County said in a press release. "This program offers diapers in a variety of sizes from newborn to older children, including young adult sizes for children with special needs."

Eligible families are provided with roughly $75 worth of diapers per child per month.

“Our diaper bank program not only helps alleviate financial strain for low-income families,” said Human Services Director Jacqueline Edwards.  “The program also serves as a touch point for families to find out about other services we offer that can improve their quality of life, such as job fairs, rental assistance, and early education.”

Families must meet certain eligibility requirements to qualify for the program. Here are some of the requirements:

  • You must bring your child's birth certificate or documentation with both parent and child names listed
  • You most provide identification proving you are the parent of the child
  • Your family must be receiving SNAP, WIC, AHCCCS or Public Assistance benefits
  • If your family doesn't receive those, you must provide proof that monthly income is at 200% or below the Federal Poverty Limit

The Human Services Department distributes diapers every Tuesday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the East Valley Center located at 1001 W. Southern Avenue in Mesa and every Wednesday from 1 to 4 p.m. in the West Valley at 4425 W. Olive Avenue in Glendale.
