PHOENIX — A suspect is dead after being shot by a Maricopa Community College police officer near 48th and Van Buren streets on Thursday, authorities said.
Phoenix police received a call about a suspect pointing a weapon at passing vehicles. Before Phoenix police arrived, Maricopa College police spotted the suspect. One of the two officers shot the suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
No officers were injured, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The identities of the officers involved and the suspect were not released.
