Man 'intentionally' drives car into Prescott medical center, police say

Police say 29-year-old Benjamin D'Haiti swerved into oncoming traffic before "intentionally" driving his car into the Yavapai Regional Medical Center.

PRESCOTT, Ariz. — A man "intentionally" drove his car into a medical center in Prescott on Tuesday, police said.

Benjamin D'Haiti, 29, drove his car on Montezuma and Whipple streets while swerving into oncoming traffic, causing vehicles to swerve out of his way to avoid a crash.

D'Haiti then pulled into the Dignity Health Yavapai Regional Medical Center Cardiology and Outpatient building, on Willow Creek Road, where he "intentionally drove his car into the side of the building. The crash damaged two large windows, which police estimate to be a cost of $5,000.

No one was injured in the incident and no structural damage was done to the building, police said. D'Haiti was found to be having severe mental health concerns and was admitted to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.

Prescott police have forwarded felony charges of endangerment and criminal damage as well as a misdemeanor charge of aggressive driving for review to the Yavapai County Attorney's Office.
