PHOENIX - Tempe and Phoenix police departments worked together to arrest a carjacking suspect who ran from police and shot at officers Saturday morning.
The Phoenix Police Department say no officers are hurt and 28-year-old Christopher Garcia was arrested.
According to police, officers responded to a carjacking investigation Saturday around 8 a.m. near Interstate 10 and Baseline Road. Police began to pursue Garcia who fled and crashed with another car under Interstate 17 at 7th Street.
From there, Garcia tried to carjack two other victims at gunpoint, police said. As officers arrived on scene, Garcia pointed his gun and fired at them and took off in a black SUV.
The suspect drove into the nearby neighborhood near 7th Street and Broadway Road, continuing to point and shoot his weapon at officers. Garcia then met up with a friend driving a Volvo.
The two traveled to a house off of 7th Street and Jones Avenue where Garcia ran inside and attempted to create a barricade.
Police were able to call Garcia and he eventually came out of the house and was arrested without incident.
No civilians or officers were harmed in the incident. Although Garcia fired bullets at several officers, no officers fired back, police said.
Garcia is facing charges that include 12 counts of aggravated assault on police, 14 counts of aggravated assault, armed robbery and more.
