SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — A man was arrested early Sunday morning following an overnight standoff with Scottsdale police.

Officers were called to an apartment complex in the area of 64th Street and Indian School Road around 11:30 p.m. Saturday for reports of a man who had assaulted and threatened someone before locking himself in his apartment, according to the Scottsdale Police Department.

Members of the SWAT team responded and surrounding apartments were evacuated.

SWAT officers used chemical munitions to try to get the suspect to leave the apartment.

A police drone was used to see inside the apartment and confirm the suspect had a gun.

The man eventually surrendered around 3 a.m. Sunday.

The victim of the initial assault was evaluated by paramedics and suffered minor injuries.
