SURPRISE, Ariz. — One man has been arrested after a shooting that left an 18-year-old in critical condition, police say.
According to the Surprise Police Department, officers were called to a home in the area of 168th Avenue and Jenan Drive Tuesday for reports of a shooting.
Once on scene officers found a large house party and 18-year-old De'Von Jones suffering from a gunshot wound.
Officers and detectives interviewed dozens of witnesses who told police there had been a fight between the man who was shot and 18-year-old Daniel Majok.
Witnesses told police Majok pulled out a handgun and fired it at Jones multiple times. He left before the officers arrived.
Investigators were able to locate Majok at his home and officers say he had a gun in his possession at the time.
Officers say Majok admitted to his involvement in this incident.
On July 4, Jones died from his injuries.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
