Luke Air Force Base to practice active shooter drills Wednesday

There is no threat to the public or people living on the base, USAF officials said.

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Residents on and around Luke Air Force Base in Glendale should be aware that the base will be holding a full-scale active shooter exercise on Wednesday, Jan. 24.

The drill is restricted to base property and may impact people entering or exiting the base.

"There is no threat to the public or base population related to this routine procedure," United States Air Force officials said. "Military installations regularly perform these simulated events to ensure the base population is prepared if the real-world scenario were to occur."

Officials did not provide details on what the exercise would entail or what time it would start.
