PHOENIX — Valley Metro's light rail service was shut down Wednesday morning between Phoenix and Tempe due to a power outage caused by an incident that occurred north of Sky Harbor Airport.

As of 9 a.m., trains were unable to travel between the 12th and Jefferson streets station to the College Avenue and Veterans Way station on the ASU campus. Shuttle buses are being provided to transport riders between the stations.

There is no estimated time for when service may be restored.

Valley Metro said the outage was caused by an incident reported on Washington Street near SR-143, which did not involve the light rail.

A separate incident reported Wednesday was causing delays with the street car service in Tempe due to a collision at Apache Boulevard and Norma Avenue.
