Lockdown lifted after police searched West Valley high school campus

Sierra Linda High School in west Phoenix was put under lockdown due to a school threat.

PHOENIX — A large police presence could be seen at Sierra Linda High School in west Phoenix on Wednesday due to an alleged school threat.

The campus was placed under lockdown protocols at the request of the Phoenix Police Department, according to the Tolleson Union High School District. 12News learned that the lockdown was lifted Wednesday afternoon.

At about 10:15 a.m. the school resource officer was informed about some online threats. The lockdown was initiated as a precaution at about 11 a.m. after one of the threatening messages contained a photo of a bench resembling benches seen on the high school campus, police said.

Police said officers conducted a search of the campus but there have not been any reports of a shooting nor of any injuries. No weapons were found on school grounds.

Police said officers are working to hold accountable the person behind making the threatening messages.

Students were released by about noon. School will resume as normal tomorrow, Tolleson officials said.

This is a developing story and more info will be published at it becomes available.
