The leak was reported in the area of 100th Street and Thompson Peak Parkway.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Scottsdale firefighters are responding to a large gas leak reported Wednesday in the area of 100th Street and Thompson Peak Parkway.

Hazmat teams from Phoenix and Scottsdale are at the scene metering the region as crews work to secure the gas leak. It appears the incident was the result of a gas meter getting hit.

The fire department said apartments located west of the site have been evacuated. Traffic in this area may be restricted for some time.
