Honoring America’s Veterans hosts 27th annual parade in Phoenix

The event will take place on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. The parade route starts on Central Avenue near the North Phoenix Baptist Church.

Honoring America’s Veterans is hosting the 2023 Phoenix Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, Nov. 11. The 27th annual event starts at 11 a.m on Central Avenue near the North Phoenix Baptist Church.

Parade route

The parade starts on Central Avenue and will go south from Montebello Drive to Camelback Road, turning east on Camelback Road to 7th Street, then turning south on 7th Street. It ends at Indian School Road.

How long does the parade last?

The parade typically lasts from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to the Honoring America’s Veterans website.

Parking

Parking is first-come, first-serve, according to the Honoring America’s Veterans website. The website recommends Camelback Road, east of Central Avenue and west of 7th Street for the best available viewing. The second best availability is 7th Street just south of Camelback to Montecito.

Street closures

There are a few street closures in effect for the parade:

7:30AM

  • Central Ave, from Bethany Home Road to Missouri

  • Montebello, from Central to 2nd Street

10AM

  • Central Ave between Missouri and Camelback Road

  • Camelback between Central and 7th Street

  • 7th Street between Camelback and Indian School Road

  • Indian School Road, 3rd Street to 9th Street

  • 7th Street, Osborn to Indian School Road

10:45AM

  • Missouri Avenue eastbound and westbound

Why is the parade on Nov. 11?

Nov. 11 is Veterans Day, also known as Armistice Day. The signing of the Peace Treaty ending World War I took place on Nov. 11, at 11 a.m., which is why the parade is on Nov. 11 and starts at 11 a.m.
