PHOENIX — A 28-year-old woman has incapacitating injuries after she was struck by at least three vehicles while crossing a Phoenix street midblock late Tuesday.
The Phoenix Police Department said Wednesday that the woman was crossing Indian School Road near 81st Avenue around 6 p.m. when she was struck.
A witness told police that she was struck by at least three vehicles, but no witnesses were able to describe the first collision.
The second vehicle, which fled the scene, was described as a newer model truck, possibly a Chevrolet. The third vehicle that hit the woman pulled over and remained at the scene.

The third vehicle hit the woman while she was already on the ground. The driver pulled over after he realized he hit someone. That driver was not suspected to be impaired. It was not immediately known whether the woman was impaired.
The woman remains in critical condition. The investigation is ongoing.
Indian School Road was closed in both directions between 81st and 83rd avenues on Tuesday night.
