Hiker found after friends report him missing at South Mountain Park

Police said the 19-year-old walked home and is safe.

PHOENIX — Police and park rangers went looking for a hiker reported missing Saturday afternoon. 

The 19-year-old was hiking with a youth ministry group in the Pima Canyon Trailhead area of South Mountain Park. A friend told police the hiker got separated from the group.

Officers, park rangers and firefighters searched all the park's trails but did not find the man. Later, police said the man was found safe at his home.
