PHOENIX — We knew the heat was coming, we live in the Arizona desert after all. But this year, it feels kind of like a slap in the face, because in a matter of days we have skyrocketed from the 70s into triple digits.

Normally we could head to the movie theater, library, or even a community pool right now, but with the stay-at-home order in effect, those are not options. The good news is, we found some cool treats to keep your mind off of the temps!

One of the easiest ways to stay active indoors is getting creative with crafts.

Girly Girlz Scottsdale is selling take-home craft kits for boys and girls, with painting and coloring. They even have spa kit specials for Mother's Day.

Drive-in Movie nights are making a socially distant comeback at Schnepf Farms, Moonlight Movie Nights at the Sonora Village Complex and West Wind in Glendale.

Phoenix’s Impact Gymnastics Academy is filling up its social pages with ways families can get exercise both inside and out!

On YouTube, there are a lot of family-friendly videos for yoga and other active routines.

And if you don’t have a pool, how about some good old fashioned water play outside?

For the foodies – Sushi Roku is prepping take-home sushi making kits. Gilbert’s Sweetz Bakery has summer-themed cookie decorating kits for desert. And Village Health Clubs & Spas recommends taking fruit like grapes and throwing them in the freezer.
