The owners of Green Acre dog-boarding facility in Gilbert are expected in court Monday.
Todd and Maleisa Hughes are accused of animal cruelty after more than 20 dogs died under their care in 2014.
Investigators say one of the dogs chewed through open wiring that controlled the air conditioning in the room and the animals died from extreme heat.
The couple is pleading not guilty, saying the deaths were simply a tragic accident.
They're expected to be assigned a new judge to the case Monday.
