GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Brace for the beaver – Buc-ee's request for rezoning a 71-acre property west of Phoenix got initial approval from the Goodyear Planning and Zoning Commission during its Jan. 17 hearing
If you haven't heard of Buc-ee's before, dear reader, you're in for a treat. This beaver-themed roadside mega center has captured the hearts and minds of Texans (and beyond) for over 40 years now.
And it's no surprise that it's so beloved; Buc-ee's is known for having the world's cleanest restrooms which, if you've ever road-tripped down I-10, is a godsend.
Add onto that an entire deli-style service counter for BBQ, beef jerky, fried food and baked goods and you can start to see why travelers will go the extra mile to stop here.
The sensational gas station saw a major boom in popularity since it started its aggressive expansion outside of Texas state lines, consumer outlet C-Store Drive reported. With the latest proposal, Buc-ee's is looking to capitalize on its all-in-one travel center approach.
Full rezoning approval could happen Monday during Goodyear's full city council meeting.
Buc-ee's director of real estate and development, Stan Beard, told 12News they have not closed on the property but currently have land under contract.
The new site is at the southeast corner of Bullard Avenue and Interstate 10.
There's no word on when construction on the new travel center might begin.
