Glendale officer injured in crash while responding to reports of a child drowning

The child was given CPR and is expected to be OK. The officer suffered minor injuries in the crash.

GLENDALE, Ariz. — A Glendale police officer was minorly injured in a crash while responding to reports of a drowning Friday, according to officials from the Glendale Police Department

Officers were called to an apartment complex near Maryland and 67th avenues just before 5 p.m. Friday for reports that a child was found unresponsive in a pool. 

While on their way with lights and sirens, a car failed to yield and turned left in front of the officer, causing a crash near Glendale and 73rd avenues, officials said.  The officer sustained minor injuries and everyone in the other car is expected to be OK, according to officials. 

Meanwhile, the child was given CPR and became responsive. The child was taken to a nearby hospital for precautionary reasons, officials said.
