Glendale officer crashes into door of rideshare driver who was letting customers out while illegally stopped, officials say

Officials said the officer was hit by the door of an illegally parked rideshare driver letting customers out, which caused him to hit another car.

GLENDALE, Ariz. — A Glendale officer was injured after being hit by the door of the car of a rideshare driver, which caused him to hit another vehicle, according to the Glendale Police Department. 

The crash happened just after 6:30 p.m. Friday near 95th and Glendale avenues. Officials said the rideshare driver was illegally stopped and letting passengers out in an unsafe location.

The officer suffered a gash to his leg but is expected to be OK. 

All drivers remained at the scene and the rideshare driver was cited. No other injuries were reported.
