Girl struck by car near Greenway High School, police say

The crash happened around 7:45 a.m. near 39th Avenue and Greenway Road, leaving the girl with "serious injuries."

PHOENIX — A young girl who was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after she was struck by a car near Greenway High School is now in stable condition, Phoenix police said.

Officers were called to the area of 39th Avenue and Greenway Road around 7:45 a.m. for reports of a crash.

When they arrived, they found the girl with serious injuries. First responders rushed her to the hospital. Authorities announced that she was considered stable around 10 a.m.

The area was temporarily closed in all directions but has since reopened as investigators work to learn more. Police have not released the girl's identity or age at this time.
