Funeral services announced for fallen Phoenix police officer

Officer Zane Coolidge was shot in the line of duty on Sept. 3 while responding to a call about a vehicle break-in.
After a fundraiser on Tuesday, a blood drive will take place on Wednesday in honor of fallen officer Zane Coolidge. Here are the details.

PHOENIX — Officer Zane Coolidge, who was shot in the line of duty while responding to a vehicle break-in, will be laid to rest on Wednesday, Sept. 18, the Phoenix Police Department announced.

"We remember Zane as an amazing husband, father, son, brother, friend, and beloved member of the Phoenix Police Department," a statement from the department said.

The funeral will be closed to the public but available to stream on the department's YouTube page.

The family did request that members of the public line the sidewalks during the procession. The procession will consist of motor officers, family, friends and Officer Coolidge’s Squad from Mountain View Precinct, officials said.

The procession, which will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, will start at 60th Street and Bell Road and will travel to Dream City Church at 13613 North Cave Creek Road.

The services will begin immediately after.

"At the conclusion of the inside service, traditional customs and courtesies, including the last call, will be given to fallen Officer Zane Coolidge in the front courtyard of the church," the department said.

Coolidge was shot while responding to a report of a vehicle break-in on Sept. 3. He died on Sept. 6 surrounded by his family. Coolidge's partner, Officer Matthew Haney, was also shot and is recovering.
