The firefighter was said to be in stable condition and was being taken to the Valley Wise County Burn Center for evaluation, authorities said.

Authorities said the fire started in a porta potty and then moved to a residential structure.

"While overhauling the structure a Buckeye firefighter contacted a live wire and was electrocuted," the fire department said.

The Red Cross is helping three members of the family displaced by the fire.

A further update on the firefighter's condition was not provided.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
