GOODYEAR, Ariz. — A 2-month-old baby survived a severe car crash Wednesday in Goodyear thanks to being properly restrained in a car seat, officials said.
Goodyear and Avondale firefighters were dispatched to the area of Litchfield Road and Van Buren Street for reports of a two-vehicle crash. A 30-year-old man needed to be extricated from the wreckage and was taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to the Goodyear Fire Department.
An injured woman was also taken to the hospital.
The fire department said a 2-month-old baby was safely removed from one of the vehicles and was not injured.
The fire department attributed the infant's survival to the child's car seat.
